Our Story
From humble beginnings to a registered UK charity, our journey has been driven by one goal: giving stray animals a second chance at a happy life.
Foundation Formed
Serbian Cats and Dogs Foundation was born from a passion to help the countless stray animals suffering on the streets of Serbia. Our founders began organising rescue efforts and building partnerships with local shelters.
First Rescue Transports to UK
We completed our first successful rescue transport, bringing vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped animals from Serbia to waiting families in the UK. This marked the beginning of our rehoming programme.
500+ Animals Rehomed
A major milestone! We celebrated rehoming over 500 cats and dogs to loving UK families. Our volunteer network grew, and we established stronger partnerships with foster families across the country.
Registered with Fundraising Regulator
We achieved official registration with the Fundraising Regulator, demonstrating our commitment to ethical fundraising practices and transparent operations. Charity registration number: 1212849.
The story of Serbian Cats and Dogs Foundation began with a simple act of compassion. During a visit to Serbia, our founder Marina witnessed firsthand the plight of stray animals living on the streets — hungry, sick, and in desperate need of help. That experience sparked a determination to make a difference.
What started as informal rescue efforts quickly grew into an organised operation. We built relationships with local rescuers in Serbia, established protocols for veterinary care and safe transport, and developed a network of dedicated foster families in the UK ready to welcome animals into their homes.
Today, we are proud to be a registered UK charity, committed to the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical fundraising. But our work is far from finished. With every rescue, every transport, and every adoption, we move closer to our vision of a world where every animal has a safe place to call home.
Every dog and cat deserves a safe place to call home.
